This song is dedicated to my grandmother, Mama Ruby, and her sister, Ruth, my mother's beloved aunt, whom she cherished deeply, and I do as well. After my younger brother contacted me to compose a poem for our family reunion, which my cousins in Washington hosted, I had no idea that I would later transform the poem into a spoken word piece or song. As I read the poem, I was surrounded by my family's radiant light. My grandmother and her sister are truly foundational to our family's existence.~
